We are very pleased to announce our annual Opera Event. The English National Opera is celebrated for its stagings of Handel’s Operas and David Alden’s production lovingly evokes the elegance of eighteenth-century opera and the age of chivalry, while illuminating the darker side of human nature. It has a contemporary edge and inventive, occasionally startling, choreography and characterization. An exceptional cast is assembled for one of Handel’s most demanding operatic scores, in which the quicksilver brilliance of coloratura is contrasted with music of extreme pathos, most notably in Ariodante’s great lament ‘Scherza infida’ ('Take your pleasure'). The action is threaded with dance to make this staging simultaneously stately, dynamic and spiced with the unexpected.

The evening will begin with a pre-performance reception from 6:30 pm, with sandwiches and drinks. Guests will then have the opportunity to meet up at the first interval for drinks. Seating will be “prime” stall seats.

Ticket Price: Price: £64.00
